THE DAY
10:50The weekend is over, we are recovering.
Boscombe Bound; Urban Art Sessions was a huge success. With 410 attending the session, from locals to students alike, we really got the message heard that Boscombe and Bournemouth has an exceptional amount of talent!
We are so proud to have been working alongside such a fantastic and creative organisation: The Great Exhibition of Boscombe and to have been involved with their mission to put Boscombe on the map as a creative talent hot spot.
We also had a lot of interest being shown in The Arts Award and everyone seemed really keen to get involved, which was fantastic.
The collaboration we achieved between Bournemouth University, Arts University Bournemouth and local talents was incredible and we can't thank you all enough for all the hard work.
The empty Clinton Cards unit was completely transformed; amazing artwork was glittering the walls and intriguing installations were drawing our attention, there was no going back, we were ready. Excited and nervous, it was time to open the shutter and welcome the public.
Next came the much awaited Live Art Session from Krishna Malla and Lucan Art. These two battled it out and the results were absolutely amazing.
We welcomed Chris to the stage to show off his fantastic acoustic music, with a stand out cover of Ben Howard that got everyone singing along and many gorgeously chilled out tunes. Not long after, he was joined by Tyler and the buzz of live arts and music in the room went to another level.
By this time our live painting was in full swing, with three artists doing their thing and creating a beautiful piece of colour and shape.
Animation workshops were also getting busy. Josh and Aaron were fantastic and really got people interested and excited about their work.
Not forgetting the fabulous Redtail Studio who were working with individuals on the Posca Pen graffiti wall. We love that people who came along made their mark and created this crazy design board, creative collaboration at its best! See if you can find your piece:
We then welcomed the incredible Reydon and RTech to the stage, infront of the perfect backdrop of Lucan and Krishna's finished art works. These local Hip Hop artists were amazing to watch, throwing down some rapid lyrics to some hefty beats.
We finished the day off with a brilliant set from BUMP, the perfect closing act for what was an incredible day.
The room was well and truly brimming with the best creative talent in the area. We thank everyone who got involved on the day, our local and AUB artists, all of our musicians, The Sovereign Shopping Centre for having us and Clare Belmont from The Great Exhibition of Boscombe for all of her help. We really couldn't have done it with out you all!
Stay tuned for the next post that will have information on all the artwork that was being showcased and much more!
